Cindy Luebke has spent 38 years in the health and fitness industry, and has been the director of the Wellness Center since 2013. Cindy manages the Wellness Center, teaches classes and promotes friendships and a community vibe in the Wellness Center every day.
She is certified as an instructor for group exercise, SilverSneakers, personal training, aqua fitness, arthritis, Tai Chi, Ai Chi and Functional Aging Specialist. She has two degrees from the University of Wisconsin at Madison, in Physical Education and Nutritional Education. The Wellness Center is focused on membership satisfaction and membership retention, advancing the message of health and fitness for active adults 55 and older, and being a caring community for members and staff. She has built a strong, diverse team who she regards as friends and champions for all Wellness Center clients.
Cindy’s passion is for fitness; she enjoys the outdoors, kayaking, hiking 13ers and 14ers on the weekends, and works as a safety kayaker for local triathlons. Her goal is to inspire people to move more and achieve a higher level of fitness with a big element of FUN!
Karmen Davis received a bachelor’s degree in corporate fitness from Abilene Christian University in 1993. Her passion for the health and wellness of others comes from her father, who taught health at the university level for over 40 years. She holds various certifications for water and land group exercise classes, as well as personal training. She is filled with joy when her clients see improvement in balance, strength, flexibility or range of motion.
In addition to loving her clients and friends at Shalom, she is an avid tennis player and golfer. She enjoys active time outdoors with family and friends, traveling and volunteering at a camp for foster kids. In 2020, Karmen will be certified with CASA to be a court-appointed advocate for children.
Karmen has been married for 26 years and counts her two children, who love others and are contributing members of society, as her greatest achievements.
Calisse Weidner began as a fitness instructor for the Wellness Center 6 years ago, and enjoyed the Wellness Center so much she applied and was hired for the position of Membership Coordinator. For the past 4 years she has been working to develop membership and retain members while continuing to teach classes. Calisse is certified through ACE for Group Fitness, Personal Training and SilverSneakers, and has a variety of Aqua certifications.
Calisse’s background is in social work. She received her Master of Social Work (MSW) from the University of Denver, and worked as a school-based mental health therapist for many years. She is married and has two sons, 14 and 11 years old. With her joy in promoting health and wellness in the community, she continues to teach, substitute for fitness classes, provide personal training and welcome clients and guests to the Wellness Center with a smile.
She enjoys crocheting, knitting, taking nature walks and teaching fitness and wellness to all. Look for Calisse at the reception desk – or you may see her in the pool instructing an aqua class!
